Across the DMZ area in Gyeonggi Province, the festival frames the region through peace, ecology and history. Its exhibition, EcoPeace Forum and international music festival each offer a different way in.
Three distinct programmes invite you to experience the DMZ through art, ideas and music.
An exhibition across two sites
The DMZ OPEN EXHIBITION: STAGING takes place at Camp Greaves and Paju Imjingak Peace Nuri, bringing the festival’s art programme to two distinct locations. The exhibition runs as part of an extended festival programme, so you can give it its own outing rather than squeezing every experience into one stop. 🎨
The festival invites visitors to look at the DMZ through its ecological setting and historical meaning, as well as its association with division and military tension. Here, art becomes one way to consider peace and coexistence in a place that has been preserved over time. What might change when you experience the DMZ through an exhibition? 👀
Plan which of the two sites you want to visit before setting out, since the exhibition is spread between them. Admission to the festival is free, though some programmes are paid, so check the conditions for your chosen experience before you go.
Ideas at the DMZ OPEN EcoPeace Forum
The 2026 DMZ OPEN EcoPeace Forum brings the festival’s academic strand to Sono Calm Goyang. Its focus sits alongside the festival’s broader themes of peace, ecology and history, giving visitors a space to engage with those ideas through a forum. 🌱
The DMZ OPEN Festival connects programmes from different fields around the idea of a greater peace. If you’re drawn to discussion and reflection, make the forum your main pick; it’s the clearest fit for spending time with the festival’s ideas.
The forum is one programme within a larger, multi-venue event, so plan for Sono Calm Goyang as a separate stop. Check the admission conditions for this programme, as some parts of the festival are paid.
International music at Aram Music Hall
The DMZ OPEN International Music Festival brings the music programme to Aram Music Hall at Goyang Aram Nuri. It’s a chance to experience the festival through live performance, alongside its exhibition and forum. 🎶
The festival treats music, art and academic exchange as different ways to encounter the DMZ’s peace, ecological and historical significance. If you only have time for one programme, choose the one that matches how you like to engage: look through the exhibition, explore ideas at the forum or make music your focus.
Set aside a separate visit for Aram Music Hall, since the festival’s programmes take place at different venues. Admission is free for the festival overall, with some programmes paid, so check the music programme’s conditions before heading over.
