The festival takes place at a Buddhist temple in Sasaguri, with a special opening of Yugi Pagoda alongside the temple grounds. From Sasaguri Station, the temple is about a 15-minute drive.
The difference between a free temple visit and a paid pagoda opening gives you two ways to take in the festival.
Free temple visit or special pagoda viewing: which one is yours? The grounds are free to visit, while the special opening of Yugi Pagoda has an admission fee for adults; children of junior high school age and younger enter free 🙂
The festival is held at Nomiyama Kannonji, a Buddhist temple in Sasaguri, and runs over a multiweek period. Take your time around the temple, then decide whether you’d like to add the pagoda opening to your visit 👀
From Sasaguri Station, the temple is about a 15-minute drive, and the venue can also be reached by car from the Fukuoka interchange. Visitors have described traffic delays and difficulty arranging a taxi for the return journey (the ride back deserves a place in the plan too) 🤭
So, arrange your transport before setting out, and consider booking a return taxi rather than assuming one will be easy to find. Free parking has also been reported by visitors, which may suit you if you’re driving 👌
