Step into the middle of an eight-lane road with no cars — 😆 can you believe that open-air dance floor? Live bands, parades and street games take over Gwangmyeong for two days of free fun.
A car-free road where live music — 🎶 wow, that chorus ringing out — street play and neighbor parades collide
Stand right next to the main stage and — 😍 wow, can you hear those guitars tuning up for GM Live? Eleven acts fill the lineup, from singer-songwriter 10CM (십센치) to rock legend Kim Jong-seo and bands like Daybreak, Jackking Kong, Asurai, Asadal, Romantic Punch, Bulnabang Star Sausage Club, Shin Hyun-hee Band, Cactus and Rua Mel. One more step and — 🥁 boom, the drums kick in and the whole eight-lane road sings along!
The run stretches over two days with entry free, so you can drift in and out of the crowd as you please. Step inside the plaza zone and — 🏆 oh, did you spot that shiny Music Hall of Fame Awards moment shining between sets? Cheers roll down the car-free road by Cheolsan Station as headliners trade loud choruses with shouting fans.
What steals the show right in the middle of the street plaza — 🤩 eek, everyone suddenly dancing in perfect sync for random play dance? Pick up that golden mic and belt out your favorite chorus at the street karaoke while strangers clap and cheer beside you! Laughter bubbles up as bubble shows pop overhead and stilt walkers and plaster mimes weave through the crowd.
Hear that stomping rhythm getting closer — 🥁 huh, is that the citizen parade marching straight toward you? Join the line and march shoulder to shoulder with local neighbors celebrating the Street of Citizens commemorative moment. One more step and you are inside the moving river of color, flags and pounding feet!
Need a breather between songs — 🎲 ooh, want to roll for fun at the Gwangmyeong Nine Play Zone? You can try marble games and mini games that introduce the city's beloved travel spots in a playful dash around the booths. Kids dart from corner to corner collecting stamps while parents cheer each small win!
Wander over to the social solidarity economy zone and food zone and — 😋 yum, does that savory smell make your stomach rumble? Local groups run hands-on experience booths and markets full of crafts and tasty bites to munch on the go. Young musicians fill the nearby commercial streets with busking songs while the green rest zone and sharing market invite you to sit, browse and recharge.
