Welcome to Waujeongsa right here in Yongin, where 48 peaks of Mt. Yeonhwasan wrap around the temple grounds like a cozy screen! 😮 Founded back in 1970 by Haewol Samjang Beopsa to wish for national harmony, this place serves as the headquarters of the Korean Buddhist Nirvana Sect. You are going to be amazed the moment you walk past the entrance and spot an 8-meter-tall Buddha Head waiting for you. ✨

Heading further up the mountain brings you face to face with an incredible Reclining Buddha stretching 12 meters long and 3 meters high, carved straight from imported Indonesian sandalwood! 🔔 Not far from there, the Jangyuk Ojonbul shines proudly after taking 10 years and 100,000 geun of brass to build. Have you ever seen a bell as grand as the 12-ton Unification Bell that actually rang out during the 1988 Seoul Olympics? 🌏

There are about 3,000 Buddha statues tucked across the entire site, including statues gathered from India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, China, and Thailand inside the World Manbul Hall. 🚶‍♀️ You can also admire the Shakyamuni Ascetic Statue featuring a pure white jade body and a blue jade pedestal, plus sacred relics like Shakyamuni Buddha's True Relics. Grab your walking shoes and come check out this breathtaking mountain sanctuary today! 🤩

The Monumental Sights

Waujeongsa is packed with jaw-dropping features that you simply will not find anywhere else. 🏯 You can stand before the towering Bronze Maitreya Pensive Bodhisattva, gaze at the shimmering Shakyamuni Ascetic Statue, and marvel at the Unification Stone Pagoda built from stones brought from sacred sites around the world. Every corner holds a piece of history and global Buddhist culture!

Sacred Relics and Halls

Step inside the World Manbul Hall to see Buddha statues sent from Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India, China, and Thailand all in one peaceful space. 🎟️ The temple also houses priceless Shakyamuni Buddha's True Relics alongside the ancient Pali Tripitaka and Sanskrit Buddhist Scriptures. It is an extraordinary collection tucked right into the peaceful folds of Mt. Yeonhwasan.
